Parece que más que en una crisis económica estamos ante un cambio de paradigma, y no es nada nuevo porque este proceso ha venido sucediendo en los últimos cambios de siglo.
Capitalism is an economic system in which private individuals and business enterprises carry out the production and exchange of goods and services through complex transactions involving prices and markets. - via Wikipedia.
But there are a couple of words that stand out in this definition: first of all, it does not speak of people but of individualsthe other word in question is marketsand those markets were hierarchical, distant and disconnected from each other. In the 20th century, the masses were won over, not the people; one radio channel was enough to get Americans out on the streets when Orson Welles came up with the script for The War of the Worlds.
Classical Capitalism understands that with capital to obtain starting products, labor and means of labor, it generates a product that is sold and with which money is earned; but it does not see people as such but as labor power, while the means of labor are in the power of the company, of capital.
But what happens when the means of labor are on the shoulders of its employees, in each of their brains? because that is the paradigm of the Knowledge Society in which we already live. Two consequences are direct: in the first place, workers' unions have no sense as we understand them today, because those structures were thought when the means of work were monopoly of the capitalist, something that only broke the idea of cooperative, and today, the worker carries his means of work in his head. The second direct consequence: the entrepreneur of the Knowledge Society must make an effort to retain talent, because with each talented worker who leaves, a part of his means of work leaves the company, that is to say, that brain furnished in part in the company that leaves to produce for another company, but does not leave the furniture in the first one.
In the 21st century people are convinced one by one, not en masse. We are many, and very communicated, perhaps we begin to be excessively communicated reaching to lose capacity to reason in depth; but we are so many and so communicated that we see ourselves equal to each other, a situation that overwhelms us and leads us to slant us to be minimally original; contact with other rare people today is easy, so that we can feel the warmth of the tribe of the rare types similar to us that are loose in the world.
The money to create a company and the material means are nowadays commodities within everyone's reach; the same cannot be said of ideas, and above all of people.
